Science Media Center Germany

The Science Media Center Germany is an independent editorial office to improve reporting on science-related topics. It also runs the SMC Lab, which develops digital innovations and data-based tools for an augmented science journalism. The center was founded in 2015 as a non-profit limited liability company thanks to a long-term funding commitment from the Klaus Tschira Stiftung (KTS), which holds the majority of its shares; the remainder are owned by the German Association of Science Journalists (WPK). SMC Germany is based in Cologne.
